After nearly a decade, police in Punjab’s Lodhran district have successfully recovered a woman who had been abducted nine years ago, according to a statement issued by the district’s Crime Control Department (CCD) on Monday.
The recovery was made during a targeted operation in the Mani Yazman area, where law enforcement also apprehended four individuals suspected of involvement in the abduction.
The suspects, who had been on the run since the incident, were reportedly wanted by the Saddar Dunyapur police and were listed among the top 100 most-wanted fugitives in the region.
“This case presented a significant challenge due to the length of time the accused had been evading arrest,” a police spokesperson said. The breakthrough came after coordinated efforts by the CCD’s IT unit and the Dunyapur Circle police team.
The suspects are now in custody, and a formal case has been registered against them. The CCD’s director of operations emphasized the police force’s ongoing commitment to public safety and its resolve to bring fugitives to justice.
