A local youth has been hailed after his heroic efforts to rescue seven children and their teacher who were struck in a chairlift after its cable snapped in Battagram.
Muhammad Sahib Khan is being hailed as the real hero for his role in the rescue operation that ended after hectic efforts for over 14 hours in a ravine of the mountainous area in Allai Tehsil.
During the aerial operation, the Pakistan Army rescued a child from a chairlift after a sling operation. After the air operation was suspended due to gusty winds and darkness, the youth volunteered to participate in the rescue operation.
Sahib went on the rope with a makeshift dolley and rescued the children one by one from the chairlift. Two other young people from Mansehra district, Muhammad Ali Swati and Ilyas, also participated in the operation.
The aerial operation was stopped in the evening, after which the local youth Sohaib started the traditional ground operation and within a few hours rescue all the passengers.

The incident happened on Tuesday when eight people were left dangling in cable car for several hours after the cable of their chairlift snapped and was left dangling 900 feet above the ground.
