LAHORE, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and supporters are holding protests in difference cities across the country, including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta after former prime minister Imran Khan was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over alleged corrupt practices during his tenure in the office.
Following his arrest, the PTI is asking the party supporters to take to the streets against what it calls an illegitimate arrest.
Reacting to the call, a number of PTI protesters have blocked major roads in the Punjab capital, which has turn into a traffic quagmire.
According to City Traffic Police Lahore, Canal Road, Liberty Chowk, GPO Chowk, Akbar Chowk, Mall Road bridge, Mughapura, Dharampur, Sundardas road and others are closed due to protests.
In Karachi a large number of PTI worker took out on Sharhra-e-Faisal and blocked the road, besides this PTI workers also staged protest in different places in the city including Sohrab Goth and Hassan Squire.
In Peshawar and Quetta, the PTI workers gathered in different places and staged protest against Imran Khan arrest. Protest is also reported in many other big and small cities of the country, while with the passage of time the protest is getting more and more intensive. Â
