LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has ordered the immediate release of the report of the Petroleum Commission over the rise in prices of petroleum products and crisis.
The Lahore High Court rejected the federal government’s request for a delay. The head of the commission said that the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of OGRA did not have complete data on petrol pumps. In 2006, the powers of OGRA and the Ministry of Petroleum were determined.
The report of the judicial commission will be submitted to the federal cabinet tomorrow, the public prosecutor said. The Deputy Attorney General said that the report would be published after the approval of the prime minister.
The Chief Justice said that the cabinet meets every Tuesday. He had earlier said that approval would be sought by submitting a report to the cabinet. It is the prerogative of the court to publish the report of this commission.

The court said it was not possible for the government to publish the report whenever it wanted. Under the law, the report of the Judicial Commission will be published automatically. Even if the cabinet says not to publish the report, the report has to be published.
The High Court inquired as to which law stipulates that the report should be published within 30 days. Judicial Assistant Owais Khalid said that it was the prerogative of the court to publish the report of the commission.
The public prosecutor argued that it was the federal government’s prerogative to publish the report. The Chief Justice said that you cannot stop the publication of the report of the commission.
