LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif till 29th June in assets beyond means case.
According to details, a two-member bench presided by Justice Tariq Abbasi heard the plea. During the proceedings, Justice Alia Neelam inquired from Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer about when Shehbaz Sharif tested positive for coronavirus to which he responded that the PML-N president tested positive on 11th June after which he went into self-isolation.
“How long will Shehbaz Sharif remain in quarantine?” Justice Alia Neelam asked, adding that what are the doctors’ instructions in this regard.
Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer informed the court that he will remain in quarantine for two weeks and will be tested again after two weeks.
Lawyer Shahbaz Sharif told the court that Shahbaz Sharif could not come to the High Court to submit a surety bond.
While extending the interim bail, the court directed Shahbaz Sharif to submit a surety bond on June 29.
Earlier on 1st June, Shehbaz Sharif filed the petition in LHC to avoid arrest by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in assets beyond means and money laundering cases.
In a petition, Shehbaz Sharif took the stance that NAB might arrest him in a pending inquiry. NAB made the case with malicious intentions as he has been declaring his assets regularly, Shehbaz added.
