The statement said that the NAB has made a case of assets in excess of income on the basis of malice and due to the political influence of the present government. The allegations leveled by the NAB in the inquiry are of a general nature.
The petition added that he was arrested in the same case in 2018 and had fully cooperated with the NAB. During the arrest in 2018, the NAB did not present any evidence against him regarding the abuse of power.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the NAB cannot exercise its discretion in a case in which there is no evidence. “I have been declaring all assets regularly, allegations of money laundering are also baseless. The NAB cannot exercise the powers of the Anti-Money Laundering Act during an inquiry,” he added.
