KARACHI: The Election Commission has postponed the local body elections in nine districts of Sindh including Hyderabad, this decision has been taken due to rain in various cities of Sindh including Hyderabad.
According to the details, local body elections in 9 districts of Sindh including Hyderabad were postponed on the recommendation of Election Commissioner Sindh and the district administration, while a decision will be taken regarding the postponement of local body elections in the Karachi division as well.
The Election Commission convened a meeting today for the purpose of reviewing the conditions for conducting the election including the rain situation in the Karachi Division, during which an important decision on the holding of local body elections in Karachi is expected.
In this regard, the Election Commission said that in today’s meeting, after reviewing the situation of rains and floods, a final decision will be taken regarding holding local body elections in Karachi Division or not.

It should be noted that earlier, the Election Commission had rejected the Sindh government’s request to postpone the second phase of local elections in Sindh.
The spokesperson of the Election Commission while explaining the rejection of the application said that the local body elections in Karachi Division will be held on August 28 as per the scheduled schedule.
