LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched an operation against illegal construction at the residence of senior vice president PML-N Lahore Saiful Malook Khokhar and MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar in Johar Town.
A heavy contingent of police blocked roads leading to the residence called Khokhar Palace with containers and stopped the media from entering the area. The road from Ayub Chowk to Khokhar Palace had been sealed off and Saif Market was demolished during the operation. The backside of two houses was also demolished by the district administration.
The district administration claims to have relinquished 38 kanals of government land illegally occupied from the Khokhar brothers valued at Rs1.5 billion.
The Khokhar brothers are accused of occupying the said land through forgery. They had been issued notices to evict the land by the district administration, which they repeatedly ignored.
The district administration conducted an operation but had to postpone it due to protests by supporters of the Khokhar brothers. An operation was carried out over the non-implementation of the notices.
Additional Deputy Commission Revenue (ADCR) Lahore and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations supervised the operation.. The reclaimed land has been transferred to the Punjab government.
Meanwhile, PML-N leader Saiful Malook said the Lahore Development Authority was razing his three houses and one plaza. He said the residences belonged to his nephew. He lamented that these structures were being demolished despite the Lahore High Court’s stay order.
