LAHORE: Lawyers across the country are on strike today against the police crackdown on lawyers outside the Lahore High Court.
Yesterday, various lawyers’ organizations called for a complete boycott of the court proceedings. They also announced that they will hold a meeting today inside the Lahore High Court.
Similarly, all courts in Karachi will remain closed today to show solidarity with their colleagues in Lahore who were baton-charged, teargassed and later put in jail vans.
All the civilians coming to the City Courts today were stopped at the main gate and not allowed to enter. Due to the strike, the prisoners will also not be produced in the courts today.
It should be remembered that yesterday in Lahore, the police charged the protesting lawyers outside the High Court with batons and threw tear gas.
Courts across the country are closed today due to a strike call by lawyers, due to which Ceylon is facing difficulties.
