Lahore’s field hospital closed after all virus patients discharged

LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has announced that all three halls of Expo Centre Field Hospital in Lahore were temporarily closed after all coronavirus patients receiving treatment have been discharged.

According to details, all COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at the temporarily built field hospital were discharged after being fully recovered from the deadly virus.

In this regard, Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid announced that if the facility is permanently closed after Moharram, the resources would be sold to other hospitals.

Vice-Chairman of the coronavirus Expert Advisory Group Dr Asad Aslam claimed that Lahore has witnessed a decline in the reported coronavirus infections.  

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Nabeel Awan warned that after Eid-ul-Azha, there might be another spike in coronavirus cases. He further said, “If there are no cases reported for the coronavirus in the coming days, then the medical facility would be permanently closed by August.”

The Punjab government had introduced a 990-bed isolation facility, with a 10-bed High Dependency Unit at the Lahore Expo Centre. In the facility, almost 110 paramedical staff was appointed to treat the virus-affected patients.
