A headmistress at a government school in Johar Town, Lahore, is facing serious allegations after being accused of soliciting five expensive dresses in exchange for approving pension documents.
The situation arose when Rehan Bashir, a resident of Iqbal Town, lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, accompanied by a covert recording of the headmistress’s demand.
Rehan explained that he visited Government Girls High School to process the pension documents of his late mother. However, he was informed by the school staff that the headmistress required five fancy dresses in order to sign the necessary documents. Rehan managed to capture a recording of the staff’s request for the dresses.
Despite making several appeals to the headmistress, he ultimately secured her signature on the documents after providing her with three dresses.
Rehan expressed his frustration over the headmistress’s actions and subsequently filed complaints with the education department, alleging bribery and exploitation.
He claimed that the relevant department delayed the initiation of a case for two months, prompting him to escalate the matter to the anti-corruption department. The Bureau took his complaint seriously and summoned the headmistress, teaching staff, and the CEO of education for inquiries.
Regrettably, none of the parties appeared for the investigation, leading the Bureau to instruct the CEO of education to ensure that the individuals involved are presented for questioning.
