The police have arrested three suspects who allegedly tortured and robbed a German tourist in Lahore five days ago. The arrests were made on Tuesday in the Barki and Ghaziabad areas of Lahore.
The authorities also recovered a camera and mobile phone belonging to the German national, who was camping in a park near the airport when he was attacked and robbed at gunpoint.
It should be noted that on Monday, the Punjab government compensated the victim with Rs. 0.5 million.
Previously, on the orders of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, four Dolphin Squad officers were arrested for negligence and failure to act regarding the robbery of the German tourist. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamayana also ordered the registration of a case against these officials.
According to police sources, the Dolphin Squad officials who arrived at the crime scene attempted to dissuade the German tourist from filing a complaint and did not report the incident to any senior officers. The officials reportedly calmed the tourist without taking any action.
In response to the incident, CCPO Bilal Siddique summoned the officials to his office and detained them. The four officials are currently held at the Civil Lines Police Station.
