The former Chief Minister is accused of accepting a bribe in the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) agreement with a Turkish firm. He is alleged to have taken a bribe of Rs125 million against a payment of Rs2.90 billion. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The court’s decision to grant bail has provided temporary relief to Elahi, who has consistently denied the allegations against him. However, the case is ongoing, and the NAB will continue its investigation.
This came just hours after Punjab Police raided Elahi’s residence in Gujrat in yet another bid to arrest him.
