LAHORE: A local cleric Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman has been accused of sexually assaulting a seminary student after a video of the incident went viral.
Mufti Azizur Rehman, who is affiliated with Lahore’s Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islam, has come forward and explained the incident.
While taking oath on the Holy Quran, the cleric revealed that he was in a state of intoxication before video was filmed. He stated that the viral video was a year old and was surfaced due to a personal enmity.
Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman has said that this video was made intentionally to defame him as the administrators of the seminary felt threatened that he might control the madrassah.
“I was given some toxic tea and you can see that my body was not moving in the video. I was forced to do it and he filmed this video. Actually, it was produced and made viral to defame me as two administrators of the religious seminary thought perhaps I might control it,” he clarified.
The student, however, said that he was being victimised and there is no such thing whic Mufti has stated. The student said he filmed the video when he was being sexually assaulted for the second time no one believed him when he revealed the first incident.
Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman was terminated by seminary on June 3, 2021 but no FIR has been registered against him.
