The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the temporary daily suspension of flight operations at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM, effective July 1 to September 15, 2025.
The measure is part of seasonal safety protocols to address the increased risk of bird strikes during the monsoon season, which poses a hazard during takeoffs and landings.
The decision follows a high-level review meeting in which aviation and wildlife experts raised concerns about heightened bird activity near the airport’s runways during early morning hours—a pattern frequently observed during the monsoon period.
All domestic and international airlines operating from Lahore have been instructed to adjust their flight schedules accordingly.
The CAA has urged carriers to coordinate closely to ensure that passenger services—including check-in, boarding, and terminal access—are managed efficiently during the restricted time window.
In a related development, Lahore experienced pleasant weather this week, with continuous rainfall and cool breezes offering relief from recent high temperatures. The city also witnessed a notable drop in mercury levels, bringing comfort to residents.
In response to the rainfall, Commissioner Lahore Zaid Bin Maqsood placed all district and municipal authorities on high alert.
He directed deputy and assistant commissioners, along with municipal teams, to remain prepared for rapid response to any rain-related emergencies.
To address water accumulation and urban flooding risks, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has been tasked with launching immediate post-rain cleanup operations, especially in areas known for waterlogging. Rain monitoring systems have been activated at 16 key locations across the city to support flood management efforts.
