What happens in La Palma?
On the idyllic island of La Palma, a freak accident kills tourists on a glass-bottomed boat. Shortly after, Fredrik (Baasmo), Jennifer (Berdal), and their children, Sara (Günther) and Tobias (Storm Lager), arrive for their annual vacation, feeling fortunate after receiving an unexpected room upgrade. But their good fortune quickly fades.
Geological researchers Marie (Loch Næss) and Haukur (Ólafsson) uncover evidence that an impending volcanic eruption could not only devastate the island, but also trigger widespread disaster across continents. As earthquakes rock La Palma, Marie and Haukur must persuade their boss, Álvaro (de Juan), to act before it’s too late.
Is La Palma based on a true story?
No, the series is fictional, but the island of La Palma and the Cumbre Vieja volcano are real. Cumbre Vieja erupted in 2021.
