KARACHI: Karachi School of Business and Leadership School Libraries Association organized its 2nd annual convention in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Highbrow College and Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) at KSBL.
The main aim of the program was the Panel discussion on creating hopes and possibilities through children’s literature. Panelists were Haseena Moeen, Ameena Saiyid (Ex-Managing Director, Oxford University Press, Prof. Malahat Kaleem Sherwani, Director Bait-ul-Hikmah Library, Hamdard University, Salman Asif Siddiqui, Director of Educational Development Resource Center and Nazma Athar, Writer, Author and Principal CAA School. The session was moderated by Yasir Qazi, Radio and TV Broadcast Journalist and Author.
The event comprised of online interactive sessions by Mary Keeling, President of American Association of School Librarians (AASL), Afnan Khan, Manager British Council Libraries and workshops by Saima Hussain-Director TEACH Pakistan, Kanwal Fawad-renowned Educational Consultant, Dr. Khawaja Mustafa-Librarian AKU Library and Tazeen Nasir-Ex-coordinator Generation’s School Library.
Dramatic Readings by Zambeel Readings were also part of the event. Asma Mundrawala and Shamsa Askari presented satirical texts penned by Urdu Literature’s notable authors, Ashraf Subohi Dehlvi, Patras Bukhari, Imtiaz Ali Taj and Ismat Chughtai. Listeners were enthralled by the sharp wit demonstrated by these masters in text that are recognized as seminal because of their language, characterization, and humor.
The convention was attended by school librarians, school heads and principals and other library professionals who appreciated the efforts of the volunteers of SLA and organizing such a learning experience.
