KARACHI: Federal Minister Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Zaidi has said that Karachi Port Trust (KPT) was ready to commence dredging in China Creek.
During his visit to inspect the pipeline entering China Creek prior to its attachment to KPT Dredger Minhal, he said that the government is moving towards all potentials sectors step by step and the Shipping Policy announced recently.
Federal Secretary Maritime Affairs Rizwan Ahmed and Chairman KPT Nadir Mumtaz Warraich were also present on the occasion. Zaidi said, “We will overcome challenges and deliver our best realizing and maximizing the huge potential of Karachi port in the country.
He said that after a gap of many years, KPT Dredger MICHAL moved into China Creek. “Maintenance dredging by KPT Dredger MICHAL will help in restoring the Marine habitat” he added.
KPT Engineering Team also repairing the remaining 2 craters/ ditches at New M. A. Jinnah Road, Keamari, enabling commuters and transporters safe and smooth flow of traffic towards Port.
