PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information Ajmal Khan Wazir has confirmed 10 more patients have died from COVID-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bringing the total death toll to 60.
The provincial information advisor said on Sunday that 62 new infections were reported in the province during the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 1137.
While talking to media, Ajmal Wazir said that the government was taking solid measures to bring back stranded Pakistanis in Afghanistan.
He said “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan is himself monitoring the coronavirus situation in the province.” All facilities are available at quarantine centers for COVID-19 patients, he added.
Ajmal Wazir called for unity among all political parties in order to defeat the COVID-19 epidemic.
Responding to a question, he said the government remained in cooperation with Ulema across the province in consultation process especially for the month of Ramazan in the wake of COVID-19.
He said Ulema had fully cooperated with the administration in all important matters in KP and had agreed to implement all the suggestions of the officials and medical experts regarding adaptation of all protective steps against the COVID-19 during the Holy month of Ramazan.
On Saturday, Ajmal Khan Wazir said that the KP government was taking all-out steps to control the spread of the novel COVID-19.
He said that COVID-19 testing capacity at Khyber Medical University has been enhanced from 40 to 700 per day.
The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan have surged past 7,900 after new cases reported from different areas of the country.
According to the national dashboard, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 7,918 and almost 148 people died. So far, 1,832 people have recovered from COVID-19 across the country.
