NAROWAL: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that the Kartarpur Corridor was a symbol of Pakistan’s desire for peace.
Antonio Guterres who is on a four-day visit to Pakistan visited the Kartarpur Corridor today. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and the Sikh committee of Gurdwara welcomed him.
During the visit, Guterres was given a tour of the Kartarpur corridor and briefed on the project. He was told that purpose of opening of Kartarpur Corridor was to provide easy access to the Sikh community across the border.
Speaking to the media, the secretary-general said that the opening of Corridor was a good step and appreciated the facilities being provided to Sikh pilgrims there.
Earlier today, while addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Guterres said that it was important for the youth to be equipped with the most advanced technology.
While highlighting climate change, Guterres said that it was the most pressing issue in the world. He believed that changing climate was the most crucial and pressing issue nowadays, he added.
According to the secretary-general, we need to take effective steps in keeping mind the consequences of climate change.
