Local authorities on Monday closed the Karakoram Highway and Jalkad-Chilas Road for traffic due to flooding and land sliding caused by the heavy rain in Diamer.
Different sections of the two roads were closed due to flooding and land sliding on different sections.
The Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister took notice of the situation and directed the authorities to launch a rescue operation.
District administration and Provincial Disaster Management Authority personnel have started work for rehabilitation of the roads.
