KARACHI: Amid severe inflation and unemployment, Jamia Islamia, an ancient religious seminary located in North Nazimabad, Karachi, has emerged as a ray of hope for the poor and jobless people by providing them hand carts and fruits so that they could earn their two-meal.
In this regard, a ceremony was held under the services department of the seminary last day during which 10 deserving people were given hand carts and fruits for sale. This was the first phase of distributing carts while other registered people would also be provided the same resources for earning their livelihood.
The chief guest of the ceremony was renowned neurosurgeon, Dr. Abdul Majeed Rana, besides the president of Jamia Makhzan Uloom, renowned religious scholar Maulana Dr. Qasim Mahmood, Asad Rana, Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman and others were also present.
Along with religious and modern education, Jamia Islamia is also active in the field of service to the people and under this, construction of wells in areas suffering from water famine, the establishment of mosques and schools, vocational centers for deserving women, and distribution of ration to poor families are carried out.
According to Maulana Dr. Qasim Mahmood of Jamia Islamia Makhzan Uloom, during the COVID-19 pandemic, assistance was provided to hundreds of families in Karachi under the Jamia in terms of ration and other needs.
Talking to MM News, Maulana Qasim Mahmood said that today the economic conditions of the country are very tough due to which poor people are suffering, good earners have also come to the footpath. “The current situation is no less than a disaster and demands us to help the poor as much as possible”.

Maulana said that in this spirit, they felt that in these serious economic conditions, they should take care of the families suffering from high inflation and unemployment. “So we chose some people who are in dire need of help and provide them carts to earn their two-end meal.”
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Abdul Majid Rana paid tribute to Maulana Dr. Qasim Mahmood’s humanitarianism, compassion, and services of Jamia Islamia Makhzan Uloom. At the end of the function, carts and fruits were provided to 10 selected deserving persons who had no job.
