An important decision has been taken by the administration regarding the lockdown after the cases of African variant of coronavirus Omicron whose first case has been reported in Karachi.
According to sources, due to the presence of Omicron in the woman and her family in District East, the administration has proposed to install a micro-smart lockdown in the district.
The Sindh government is also deeply concerned over the revelation of Omicron cases in the city and sources said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah may make important announcements in a press conference to be held at 4 pm today.
It should be noted that according to the Sindh Health Department, Omicron has been confirmed in a woman in a private hospital in Karachi. After the first case of the African variant came to light in the country, a wave of fear spread among the people.

Mehr Khurshid, the media coordinator of the provincial health department, has confirmed the first case of Omicron in a woman from Karachi. He said that the victim was admitted to Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment.
According to a notification from the District Health Office East, the 65-year-old woman has been discharged from the hospital and is currently isolated at home but her travel history could not be ascertained.
