KARACHI: The Department of the Psychology University of Karachi has signed a memorandum of understanding with Self Empowerment Center Pakistan (SECP) to initiate joint research projects development, education, training, and dissemination of knowledge on a long term basis.
Under this MoU, the KU and SECP would jointly work to promote and transfer knowledge and information sharing, including the areas of mental health, psychology, psychiatry, and the promotion of a healthier society.
The KU and SECP have agreed to launch product development activities, industry visits, joint seminars, conferences, student’s job support, internship for students, student scholarships, placing SECP experts on departmental advisory boards, special lectures, and training sessions by SECP and department of psychology and other faculties.
The KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and the Director SECP Dr Yasmeen Khan inked the MoU. The signing ceremony was held at the KU VC Secretariat.
Earlier, the Sindh Transport Minister, Engineer Syed Owais Qadir Shah had said that the University of Karachi and NED University have the potential of resolving the longstanding traffic issues of the metropolis.
While speaking as a chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Block II, University of Karachi, he recommended that KU and NED should join the hands of the provincial government in resolving the working transport issues of Karachi.
He stressed that traffic jams and transport is one of the oldest and the most serious issues of the metropolis. It could be resolved with the help of the University of Karachi and NED University as they have experts and human resources, which could assist the provincial government and its transport department, in improving the transport system of the megacity.
The minister said, “Sindh government is determined to provide a durable and long-lasting solution for the transport system”.
