Karachi traders are observing a complete shutdown strike today against the brutalities of Israel against the innocent people of Gaza.
In response to the global protest appeal, all markets in Karachi’s Old City area, Jodia Bazaar, and other central business centers will remain closed. Various trader organizations have announced full cooperation in this regard.
Karachi Electronics Dealers Association President Rizwan Irfan told the media that all major electronics markets in Karachi will remain closed today.
Several organizations, including Karachi Timber Merchant Traders, City Karachi Tajir Ittehad, All Karachi Tajir Association, Karachi Mobile and Electronics Association, and Tariq Road Traders Association, are supporting the strike.
The business leaders have made it clear that this strike is not just a business decision, but a humanitarian duty. According to them, the ongoing bombing and atrocities by Israel on innocent children, women, and civilians in Gaza have shaken the conscience of the people around the world.
A peaceful protest demonstration will also be held on the city’s main highway, Abdullah Haroon Road, at 5 pm today, in which representatives of various business organizations, civic and social activists, and ordinary citizens will participate. The demonstration aims to send a message to the international community that the people of Pakistan, especially the businessmen of Karachi, stand with the Palestinian people.
The business leaders have called on the government of Pakistan and international organizations to take practical steps against Israeli atrocities.
