The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of the first monsoon rain in Karachi starting from July 8.
On Saturday, Karachi experienced a heatwave with a recorded temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius, although it felt like 48 degrees. It is expected that inactive sea breezes will fully resume from Sunday.
According to the Meteorological Department, Saturday marked the sixth consecutive day of hot and humid weather in the city, with partial and complete heatwave conditions. Due to the suspension of sea breezes and the warm winds from the northeast direction of Balochistan, intense heat and humidity were felt during the afternoon.
Chief Meteorologist Karachi Sardar Sarfraz stated that there is a possibility of rain in the city from July 8 under the formal monsoon system.
Sardar Sarfraz mentioned that the possibility of rain had diminished because the low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea had moved further away from the city. However, due to the effects of this system, there might be light rain and drizzle in some areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature recorded in the city on Saturday was 38.4 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 49%. The heat index (the perceived temperature) was 48 degrees Celsius.
According to the Early Warning Center’s forecast, southeast, southern, and later southwest winds from the sea are expected to blow from today. The maximum temperature on Sunday and Monday is expected to range between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
