The Meteorological Department says that Karachi is likely to remain under the grip of a heatwave from today (Thursday) for the next five days, as reported by national media.
According to a report, the PMD has issued a heatwave condition alert for Karachi starting today, while the humidity level in the air is expected to remain between 70 and 80 percent. According to the Meteorological Department, due to high humidity, the temperature will feel 4 to 6 degrees higher, and the actual temperature throughout the day is expected to be 36°C, which will feel like 40°C.
The Meteorological Department also said that while there is a possibility of heatwave conditions in most cities of the country, there is currently no likelihood of a heatwave in Karachi due to the restoration of sea breezes. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Islamabad is expected to be hot and dry, with the temperature reaching up to 39°C.
On May 20, there is a risk of extreme heat in Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan, while severe heat is expected in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Punjab, and Kashmir. Due to the extreme heat, children, women, and the elderly have been advised to take precautionary measures.
