KARACHI: The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) police, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, raided Shah Latif Town police station and recovered two youngsters who were abducted for ransom.
According to reports gathered by MM News, Asad and Arman were kidnapped from Zakaria Goth for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh, but a deal was settled for Rs 10 lakh. The family of the abducted youth started receiving ransom calls, and the abductors began collecting the money in return for releasing the hostages.
After receiving the case, the AVCC police initiated a search for the abductors, and the investigation was carried out on technical grounds. As soon as the abductors received the ransom money, they were taken into custody by the AVCC police, and the hostages were recovered from the room of the police station.
The AVCC police revealed that the abducted youths were kidnapped by a private party of SHO Shah Latif Town. However, the SHO claimed that the two abductees were kept in the police station by the special team of Malir police, and he was unaware of the situation.
Meanwhile, jumping into the situation, the SSP Malir claimed that he had taken notice of the incident and initiated an inquiry, adding that departmental action was being taken against the officials involved, and a case would be registered against those responsible for facilitating and abducting.
It has been unofficially learnt that three cases have been registered against the suspects involved in the abduction, however, no copy of any FIR was available to media till the filing of this report.
It has also been learnt that Investigations are ongoing regarding why and how the abducted youths were kept in the police station. The case of kidnapping was not registered in an apparent bid to save the police officers and the police party, instead, the case of drug possession was registered against the informants in the kidnapping case. It is alleged that the Shah Latif Town Police are trying to rescue their fellow colleagues.
The SHO of Shah Latif Town police station has assured the AVCC police that a case of 365 A would be registered against the accused involved in the abduction of the youth. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are awaited.
