A shocking incident of violence occurred in the Qaidabad area of Karachi, where a young woman’s head was shaved by her family after she expressed her desire to marry the man she loves.
According to the police, the victim, Naz Fatima, a nurse by profession, was rescued from her home after she managed to contact her lawyer. Her lawyer subsequently informed the authorities, leading to a police raid and her rescue.
The police revealed that Naz Fatima had been held captive by her family. Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, including her grandmother, mother, father, uncle, and a neighbor. They are facing charges of unlawful confinement and assault.
In her statement to the police, Ms. Fatima shared that she no longer wished to live with her parents and wanted to marry her partner, despite their opposition. She further claimed that her family subjected her to violence and shaved her head as a means of punishment and coercion.
A case has been filed at the Qaidabad police station based on Ms. Fatima’s complaint, and investigations are ongoing.
