KARACHI: As the matriculation examinations for class 9 and 10 started across Sindh, including Karachi, more than 7 lakh students were set to participate. However, the commencement of exams in Karachi was marred with problems as examination centers were changed overnight, causing distress to students and respective schools.
Reports gathered by MM News from multiple sources including parents from different parts of Karachi, when students checked the portal this morning, they found that their examination center had been relocated without any prior notice. Moreover, the management of the schools where the new centers have been established were not informed of this development, which has affected the delivery of papers.
Chairman Matriculation Board Karachi, Sharaf Ali Shah, confirmed that only a few examination centers had been changed. He assured students that they could appear at any center if they were affected by the change. However, candidates arriving late will be given extra time.
Meanwhile, in Sukkur, the English paper of class 9 has been leaked ahead of time, causing concern for the integrity of the exams. This paper has been circulating in various WhatsApp groups, and copying has already started in the matriculation examinations conducted under the auspices of the Sukkur Board.
In Larkana, students received leaked information through WhatsApp groups, and cell phones were openly used during exams to assist in solving papers. This indicates that the Larkana Board’s efforts to prevent cheating during exams were ineffective, as the administration failed to stop the cheating mafia operating in the examination centers.
