The police have arrested a maid who stole 50 million rupees from a bungalow in Defence and used the money to acquire properties, as reported by national media on Wednesday.
According to the police, the maid had been working at the bungalow in Defence Phase 5 since 2013 and stole 50 million rupees during her employment.
Police stated that a case was registered against the maid at the Clifton police station on June 16, based on a complaint filed by the owner of the bungalow. Following this, the police took action and arrested her. During interrogation, the woman confessed to stealing the 50 million rupees.
The police further revealed that the accused purchased a flat worth 5 million rupees in Gizri, two plots worth 3.6 million rupees in Punjab, vehicles worth 10 million rupees, and a shop worth 7 million rupees with the stolen money.
According to the police, vehicles, motorcycles, and 4.6 million rupees in cash were recovered from the accused. Her shops and flats have been sealed. The woman acted alone in all these activities.
The owner of the bungalow told police that her husband resides and does business abroad. The maid had been employed in their home for 13 years and stole a total of 50 million rupees.
