A fire broke out in several scrap warehouses in the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi. There are fears of heavy losses due to the blaze, as reported by national media on Wednesday.
According to details, the fire brigade is facing a water shortage while attempting to extinguish the fire at the warehouses located in the Bada Maidan area of Sohrab Goth. Speaking to the media, various warehouse owners said that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
The owners stated that there are more than a thousand warehouses on the ground, and over 30 of them are currently on fire. The fire brigade has been without water for over an hour, and every time there’s a fire, they are told to buy water tankers themselves. On the other hand, fire brigade officials said that four fire tenders are currently working to control the blaze.
It is worth noting that incidents of fire in Karachi are on the rise, particularly those caused by short circuits, which often result in severe damage.
In the past, such incidents have caused significant loss of life and property in various markets and commercial areas of the city, yet adequate preventive measures have still not been implemented.
