The Karachi Electric Bus Service will resume operation next week after a five-day suspension that led the passengers into difficulties.
The Electric vehicle was facing the threat of a complete shutdown as buses running on two of its three routes were suddenly suspended, leaving thousands of passengers stranded.
Now, the authorities have informed us that Route EV-03 (Malir Cantt to Numaish via Johar University Road) will resume its operations on Monday, 30th October 2023.
Earlier, EV-2 and EV-3 services were suspended because of the unavailability of charging and only one route was functional.
The charge stations were reportedly unable to charge which led the situation to the suspension of buses on two routes.
Thousands of people traveling by these electric buses started their week with the shock that the buses they were waiting for were no longer available
However, in a fresh development, it was informed on the social media page of people’s bus services that EV-3 (Malir Cantt to Numaish via Johar University Road) will resume its operations from Monday.
It was not announced when the EV-2 route would become operational.
EVs were launched under the project of People Bus Services by the Sindh government in June 2023 and were running only three routes.
The launch of EVs and other BRTs on long routes became facilities for those who used to travel by public bus service but the short numbers of BRT routes were unable to fix the transportation problems of the public.
The public transport users included students, working women, and elders on social media requesting and recommending routes of BRTs.
Route EV-1— Start from Tank Chowk near Jinnah Avenue and pass through the airport area, Shahrah-e-Faisal, FTC, Korangi, and Khayaban-e-Ittehad to reach Clock Tower at Seaview.
Route EV-2— Bahria Town towards Malir Halt and passes through M9 Toll Plaza, Baqai University, Jinnah Avenue, Malir Cantt, Tank Chowk, and Model Colony.
