District East Police in Karachi East has confronted a five-member dacoit gang.
A five-member gang, including one dacoit, who was seriously injured in the exchange of fire, has been arrested. According to details, a five-member gang of robbers on two motorcycles were looting in an alley near Rambo Tower in the Ahsanabad area of Karachi.
Police on patrol rushed to the spot and the accused opened fire. Following, a shootout with East District Police, a dacoit was arrested with serious injuries and four other accomplices were also taken into custody on the spot.
Police said that the suspects belong to the Seraiki gang, which includes three Seraikis and two Balochs. A large number of arms, 5 pistols, and ammunition besides 2 mobile phones, wallets, cash, and 2 motorcycles snatched from the citizens were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused whose records are being checked.
The injured robber is identified as Shahmeer ul Azam. Other robbers arrested include Inayat Baloch, Sanaullah, Mazhar Abbas, and Shahbaz. Police said that the accused are involved in serious crimes against whom cases have been registered in Sachal, Sohrab Goth, Site Super Highway, Ajmer Nagri, and Maymar police stations.
Disciplinary action is being taken against the dacoit gang. The seriously injured dacoit was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Weapons recovered from the suspects will be sent for forensics. The suspects are under further investigation with key revelations expected.
