Karachi Biennale 2022 has already been kicked off in Karachi at NED University City Campus till 13th November.
The schedule on the weekends is from 10 am to 6 pm. The Karachi Biennale 2022 curates artwork in spaces that are easily accessible to the public, and augmented reality inflected the exhibitions this year.
The exhibition prompts visitors to download an app through which they can further experience the installations. Here’s everything we know so far:
Imran Qureshi
Globally celebrated artist Imran Qureshi has presented ‘Deen o Duniya’ – The Sacred and the Earthly.
It is sound-based work to interpret and showcase boundaries of religious rituals, culture, and modern technology merged in a carnivalesque form.
Rashid Rana
The creator of the exterior of the Pakistan Pavilion, Rashid Rana brought a unique large-scale installation ‘It Lies Beyond’ to the people of Karachi.
It is an interactive art piece allowing observers to fully immerse in the experience through an AI app that converts the display into moving pictures.
Amin Rehman
Amin Rehman’s ‘Water Wars’ series traced the roots of climate change back to human mismanagement and the government’s lack of investment in conservation and safe trash disposal and pointing to the role that corrupt institutions, water mafias, and armed forces play in the ecological destruction of the land.
