To enhance traffic flow and mitigate congestion during Ramadan, especially around Iftar hours, the Karachi administration has announced the deployment of additional traffic wardens from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
This decision was made during a meeting on Saturday, chaired by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi, to review the city’s traffic management strategy for Ramadan, which commenced on Sunday.
DIG Shah briefed attendees that special traffic police personnel would be assigned to regulate vehicle movement on major thoroughfares during peak hours. He further stated that help desks would be established in commercial areas to streamline traffic operations amid the surge in Eid shopping.

Participants also reviewed strategies to ensure basement parking facilities in shopping plazas and commercial buildings were used for their intended purpose rather than being converted into storage spaces or shops.
It was decided that basement parking areas of Imtiaz Supermarket on Rashid Minhas Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Chase Up Value on Kashmir Road—both currently non-operational—would be reopened immediately for parking. Their owners have been directed to comply accordingly, as confirmed by Commissioner’s spokesperson Sattar Javed.
