K Electric should provide relief to consumers: Nasir Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information & Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has urged K-electric to provide relief to its consumers.

In a statement released Tuesday evening the minister has thanked the K-electric officials for providing continuous supply during the lockdown days and asked them to prepare the least average bills for its users.

“The current phase of lockdown has affected the home economy of many people and least average billing can decrease the difficulties of the affectees” he added.

Nasir Hussain Shah told that Sindh government has passed the instructions to private business entities for providing complete salaries to their staff and also not to fire any one from their job during the epidemic situation.

He said “Sindh government has passed orders to make the jobs of all the private workers safe during the lockdown period and every business owner should give complete salaries to the staff without any deduction”.

The minister also thanked the doctors, paramedical staff, law enforcers, media workers, welfare organizations and every one dedicating the services for the fight against the epidemic.

He said that the government is striving to provide food and medical facilities to every needy and daily wager at their door step.

Meanwhile, K-electric rejected the news circulating on media regarding load-shedding in different areas of the metropolis.

In a statement a spokesman for the company said K-Electric remains committed to ensuring customer support in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In order to ensure continuity of services to customers, KE’s field teams will continue to be on-ground to ensure the city of Karachi stays powered up.

However, in light of stringent Government directives to minimize non-essential human interaction and to ensure the health and well-being of employees, the power utility has taken the decision to reduce its staff to essential only and to shut down its physical Customer Care Centers (CCC) for one week, or until further notice.
