RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army‘s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that true justice will only be served when the masterminds and planners of the May 9, 2023, violent events are punished according to the constitution and law.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the nation witnessed tragic incidents of politically motivated violence and arson on May 9, which have now become a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history. The statement emphasized that these violent incidents, fueled by political propaganda and false narratives, serve as a warning for those who may be tempted to take the law into their own hands in the future.
The ISPR further stated that organized attacks were carried out on military installations, and these acts of violence were a severe shock to the nation.
The army condemned these acts, stressing that no one should be allowed to impose their will on others through political terrorism. In the aftermath of the May 9 events, a thorough investigation was conducted, and all available evidence was meticulously examined.
The army’s media wing clarified that irrefutable evidence was collected against those involved, and some cases were sent to military courts for trial. The trials proceeded in accordance with the law, leading to convictions.
According to the ISPR, the decision to convict individuals involved in the May 9 events is a significant milestone in the process of delivering justice to the nation. The statement also mentioned that several cases are still ongoing in anti-terrorism courts, and further sentences will be announced once their legal proceedings are complete.
