ISLAMABAD: Justice Umar Ata Bandial has taken an oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan in the federal capital.
Justice Qazi Faiz Issa administered the oath of office to Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by judges, lawyers, law officers, and judicial staff.
Due to the departure of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Umar Ata Bandial became the Acting Chief Justice. It should be noted that Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar of Sindh High Court took oath as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed today administered the oath of office to Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a simple and dignified ceremony in Islamabad.

The ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Attorney General of Pakistan, senior lawyers, law officers, and officials of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present on the occasion. It may be recalled that despite the recommendation of the Judicial Commission, Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali Sheikh had refused to become an ad hoc judge in the Supreme Court.
