LAHORE: Junaid Safdar, the son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, has denied media reports of owning five offshore companies.
Junaid Safdar took strong exception to the reports claiming that his name was mentioned in the ‘Pandora Papers.’ He vowed to take legal action against the media outlets that aired the news. “I have instructed my lawyers already. I don’t have any offshore company, I am a student and only have one bank account,” he said.
Maryam Nawaz issued a statement saying that if the TV channel that aired the news does not apologise immediately, she will file a defamation lawsuit. While responding to a suggestion to seek legal action in the UK, she said that if the UK desk aired the news, then they will sue them there too.

PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the PTI government spread fake news of Junaid Safdar owning five offshore companies to distract attention from members of Imran Khan’s government named in the Pandora Papers.
She condemned broadcasting the news and urged media outlets to refrain from running fake news. She also demanded that those who aired this fake news must issue an apology. She also demanded that PEMRA should take immediate and strong action against the responsible persons.
