ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court judge Justice Mazahir Naqvi has resigned from his post while the reference hearing against him is going on in the Supreme Judicial Council.
According to the details, a reference was filed in the Supreme Judicial Council against Justice Mazahir Naqvi based on the allegations related to assets, an alleged audio of the resigned judge also came to light to which he submitted a detailed reply.
During the hearing of the reference in the Judicial Council, Justice Mazahir Naqvi sent his resignation to the President Dr. Arif Alvi, in which he said that it has become impossible for me to continue working in this position.
In a detailed reply submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council earlier, Justice Mazahir Naqvi says that the council has the right to take information against the judge, but the council does not have the authority to take action against the judge at the request of anyone.
Denying the accusations against him, Justice Mazahir Naqvi said that the Supreme Judicial Council has taken an action tantamount to insulting the rules by issuing orders. Under the Rules, an informant has no role in proceedings against a judge.
