Journalists have boycotted the post-budget news conference of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, as reported by national media on Wednesday.
According to details, journalists objected that there was an attempt to hide facts related to taxes. The FBR did not provide a briefing on the Finance Bill yesterday.
Journalists stated that they did not receive a technical briefing on the budget. They walked out of the post-budget news conference of the finance minister. Journalists believe that the FBR did not provide the technical briefing as per tradition.
On this occasion, the Secretary of Finance tried to pacify the journalists, but they strongly protested during the post-budget news conference and chose to walk out.
Earlier, the All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association expressed its disappointment over the recently announced federal budget, criticizing the lack of support for the agriculture sector despite its critical role in the country’s economy.
Waheed Ahmed, the Patron-in-Chief of the association stated that no relief package introduced for the agriculture sector in the federal budget, even though the sector was grappling with multiple challenges, including water scarcity, high input costs, lack of research and development, and the pressing need for modern pack houses and storage facilities.
