SUKKUR: The Sindh government has formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the killing of journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar.
Mahar was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Sukkur earlier this week. Journalist organizations and Sukkur Press Club demanded the formation of JIT to probe the killing.
Chief Minister Sindh announced the formation of a seven-member JIT to probe the murder of Jan Muhammad Mahar.
Senior Superintendent (SSP) Sukkur will chair the JIT which also includes representatives of ISI, Military Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, Rangers, FIA and Special Branch. Major rank officers of ISI, MI and Rangers will be included in JIT.

Senior journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar was shot dead by armed men in Sukkur. Mahar was associated with a Sindhi newspaper and its private TV channel.
He was shot dead by unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle near St. Saviour School on Queens Road on Sunday evening after leaving his office.
Local Police said the assailants shot several fires on Mahar who was travelling by his car. He received several bullets to his head and near his eyes.
He was taken to Civil Hospital and later rushed to a private hospital in a serious condition. However, he succumbed to his wounds while surgery was being performed.
The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately. Police said that an old enmity in his hometown of Chak in Shikarpur district could be the reason for the murder.
Inspector-General Police Sindh police took notice of the attack and instructed DIG Javed Sonharo Jiskani to promptly apprehend the attackers.
A large number of media personnel had gathered at the hospital after receiving reports about the incident. They said the entire local journalist community was shocked over the assassination of Mahar.
