KARACHI: Ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chapter Munem Zafar has announced a sit-in protest on Wednesday at the Sindh Governor’s House in Karachi.
The protest is a part of a larger movement calling for the cancellation of K-Electric’s (KE) license, the withdrawal of agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), a decrease in inflation, and an overhaul of the tax code.
At a news conference held at JI Karachi’s headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq, Zafar made the announcement. In an effort to put more pressure on the government, Zafar disclosed that his party intends to hold sit-ins outside Governor Houses across the country in addition to a sizable demonstration in Islamabad.
Traffic Plan
Beginning around 3 PM, Aiwan-e-Sadar Road will be blocked to traffic, specifically from Fawwara Chowk to the Governor House’s Gate No. 1.
The Shaheen Complex to PIDC roads will continue to be accessible.
Vehicles from Arts Council Chowrangi will be diverted to Club Road, and traffic from Metropole will be diverted off of Ziauddin Road. Traffic from Jinnah Bridge will be moving more quickly in the direction of PIDC.
In order to get to Mai Kolachi and Boat Basin, traffic police advise via the Sultanabad Traffic Section bypass. This will facilitate traffic management and cut down on travel time during the demonstration.
