Jennifer Lopez is facing a lawsuit for allegedly posting copyrighted photos of herself at a Hollywood event without proper authorization.
Photographer Edwin Blanco and photo agency Backgrid USA filed separate but related suits in federal court, claiming Lopez infringed on their copyright by sharing the images on Instagram and X.
The photos in question were taken as Lopez arrived and departed from a pre-Golden Globes party in January. They show her wearing a white fur coat, slip dress, and carrying a Chanel purse. One of the Instagram posts remains visible with the caption “Weekend Glamour,” and reportedly lacks any watermark or credit to the photographer.
According to the lawsuit, Lopez used the photos to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships by highlighting the designers of her outfit and jewelry. Blanco’s attorney, Jeff Perkowski, told Billboard that there had initially been productive negotiations, with Lopez’s team verbally agreeing to a settlement.
However, the singer allegedly failed to sign the agreement or pay the agreed amount. Backgrid and Blanco are now seeking statutory damages of up to $150,000 per image and have requested a jury trial to resolve the matter.
