‘Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story Of A Serial Killer’, which was banned from screening just two days before its scheduled release in theaters across the country last year has finally gotten a release date with its titled named changed to ‘Kukri’.
Written and directed by Abu Aleeha, ‘Kukri’ stars Yasir Husain, Ayesha Omar, Rabya Kulsoom, and many others. The movie is revolves around the crimes and legal trials of the notorious serial killer ‘Javed Iqbal Mughal’ of Lahore, the capital of Punjab. Javed Iqbal Mughal was guilty of murdering 100 children and raping them.
In 1999, Javed Iqbal wrote a letter to the police in which he confessed to the murder of 100 children between the ages of 6 and 16. He also admitted that he killed most of the children. He was strangled and his body was cut into several pieces. Javed Iqbal Mughal committed suicide in Lahore jail in October 2001.

The film has been hanging without a release for almost a year and now it is all set to release on 19th May 2023. A few scenes have been censored and the film has been renamed as ‘Kukri’, finally bringing the film to the cinemas.
Kukri aka Javed Iqbal is a highly-anticipated film. Last year in October, the movie premiered at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
