Actor Janhvi Kapoor took center stage as the showstopper for designer Rahul Mishra at Lakme Fashion Week on Saturday. However, after videos and photos of her runway walk surfaced online, netizens started criticising her performance, calling it “hasty” as reported by Indian media.
According to a report by Indian Express, many social media users also urged designers to feature professional models instead of celebrities. Janhvi walked the ramp in a black Bandhani bodycon gown, paired with a long black coat and heels.
The report states that midway through her walk, she removed the coat, struck a pose, and continued confidently down the runway. Despite her poise, her walk failed to impress online audiences.
Reacting to her performance on Instagram, one user wrote, “This is an insult to real models.” Another commented, “Bouncing around a runway is a new thing for the nepos?” while someone else added, “Poo would scream MINUS.” Another critique read, “Too much! Lost the rhythm… feels like a teen trying to walk in heels.”
This isn’t the first time Janhvi has faced backlash for her runway walk. When she walked for Rahul Mishra at Paris Haute Couture Week last year, netizens mocked her for being too slow, comparing her movement to “sleepwalking.”
On the professional front, Janhvi is gearing up for the release of Peddi alongside Ram Charan. She is also filming Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Param Sundari.
