Former Deputy Chief of the Israeli Army and current leader of the Democratic Party, Yair Golan, has strongly criticized Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policies, stating that Israel is becoming a mad state.
According to international news agencies, former deputy chief of the Zionist army Yair Golan said that Israel is becoming a mad state, and if it does not come to its senses now, the world will boycott us like it did with South Africa.
Harshly criticizing his own government, he warned that if a sensible approach is not adopted, Israel will become a state in the eyes of the international community similar to apartheid-era South Africa due to its racist policies.
In an interview with the state broadcaster, Yair Golan further said that a sensible country neither wages war against unarmed civilians nor makes a hobby of killing children.
He further stated that a good state also does not make it its goal to forcibly expel populations from their homes.
These statements were made in the backdrop of growing international criticism of the Israeli government’s military operations in Gaza.
However, his remarks sparked a strong public backlash within Israel, forcing Yair Golan to clarify that his criticism was aimed at government policies, not at the soldiers.
