ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police has resolved to grant driving licenses to all citizens impartially, irrespective of their residential address, and will extend this service to elderly residents by delivering permits directly to their homes.
During the inauguration of the Islamabad Traffic Police’s Mobile Facilitation and Educational Units on Monday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi affirmed that the police would facilitate students in acquiring licenses at their educational institutions.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that ensuring comprehensive citizen services in Islamabad remained a top priority. “Today, we are formally introducing a service to streamline the process of obtaining and renewing learner’s and driving licenses for college and university students, thereby saving their valuable time,” he stated.
Furthermore, the minister assured that the ITP would issue licenses to all citizens without discrimination, regardless of their temporary or permanent residence status outside Islamabad. Naqvi acknowledged the traffic challenges in the capital, announcing upcoming projects aimed at addressing these issues.
“We’ve initiated endeavors to rid Islamabad of drugs and encroachments,” he declared, referring to recent police actions against alleged drug offenders. He reiterated the commitment to uphold the Supreme Court’s directives on tackling encroachments in public spaces, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on such violations.
