LAHORE: Social Welfare Department has turned former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s residence into a shelter home in Gulberg.
The step was taken by the Social Welfare Department and Baitul Mal in order to provide shelter to homeless and poor citizens. The move came after an accountability court ordered the auction of Dar’s Gulberg residence and Hajvery House.
The houses were initially set for the auction price at Rs180.5 million but failed to find any buyer.
Assistant Commissioner Model Town Lahore, Zeeshan Nasrullah Ranjha had hanged a board of shelter home at the house consists of 12 rooms.
His house was seized in July last year by the district administration. A team, which was headed by the Model Town assistant commissioner, reached the residence to check it and ordered all the people inside to vacate it immediately.
